Invite-only preview
Payback is currently free and invite-only. Features may change, and we may pause or end the service. If we end it, we will give reasonable notice and a chance to download your statements.
What Payback is, and is not
Payback is a record-keeping tool. It is not a lender, credit broker, bank or payment service, and it does not hold or move money. Nothing in Payback is legal or financial advice.
A confirmed entry shows that the other person confirmed it in Payback. We cannot promise that any record will be accepted as evidence, or that it creates a legally enforceable debt.
Your responsibilities
- Enter amounts, dates and details accurately.
- Only record loans with people who know about them, and only use contact details you are entitled to use.
- Do not use Payback to harass, pressure or threaten anyone.
- Do not use Payback for lending with interest or fees as a business, or for any regulated credit activity.
- Keep access to your email or Google account secure.
Disagreements between users
If a borrower disputes an entry, Payback records the disagreement and how it was resolved. We do not decide who is right and are not part of any disagreement between users.
Records cannot be deleted
By design, confirmed entries and disputes cannot be deleted by either side. A lender can correct or remove an entry through the dispute process, and the history is kept.
Availability
We aim to keep Payback running but cannot guarantee it will always be available or error-free. Download your statements if you need your own copy.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, we are not responsible for any money lent or not repaid, or for losses that were not foreseeable. Our total liability to you is limited to £100. This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Ending
You can stop using Payback at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
